Popular Raymore couple celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary

Tuesday November 15, 2005

Ed and Liz Denman, of Raymore, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends on Saturday October 22. A Come and Go Tea was held at the Raymore Elks Hall from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. with over 165 guests signing the guest book that was presided over by grandson, Brett Denman.
The hall was decorated with a farm theme of old wagon wheels, straw bales, crocks and jugs. The tea tables had centerpieces of vases filled with wheat stalks. Liz’s wedding dress was also on display, as well as other wedding momentos. Jeremy Holterman, oldest grandson and Jolene Denman, oldest granddaughter escorted their grandparents to the head table. Joining Ed and Liz at the head table were John Huber (groomsman - Liz’s brother) of Lethbridge, Alberta, Donna Lindsay (flower girl - Liz’s niece) from Red Deer, Alberta and Lil McKinders (bridesmaid - Ed’s sister) from Edmonton, Alberta. Ed and Liz’s 10 grandchildren served at the tea and their son, Daryl Denman was the master of ceremonies. Daryl introduced the family and entertained the crowd with jokes and stories of his parent’s life.
In the evening a supper was held for approximately 100 family and close friends. Long time family friend, Richard Lang, gave the toast to the happy couple. Daughters Pat Stewart and Penny Denman put together a wonderful slide show presentation covering the last 50 years that had the guests laughing, crying and singing along. A social evening followed with much visiting and picture taking.
The family hosted a breakfast Sunday morning for any guests who had spent the night.
Out of town guests came from Surrey B.C., Armstrong B.C., Red Deer, Medicine Hat, Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Carseland, Alberta and Saskatoon, Regina, Edenwold, Maclean, Wynyard, and Young.
Ed and Liz would like to thank their children and grandchildren for the memorable weekend. Thanks to friends and relatives for sharing our special day. Thanks to all those who attended the tea and sent cards, gifts and best wishes.
